Prepare a shared checklist

Gather agreed drawings, materials, equipment and change records before arranging a joint review. Check by room rather than raising issues randomly. This list organises observations and does not replace professional engineering or safety inspections.

Specific locations are more useful than general criticism

Record the room, exact location, observation and photograph reference. A particular cupboard door that does not open smoothly is clearer than a general complaint about cupboards. Discuss whether something is a defect and its treatment against agreed specifications, product guidance and the contract.

Check equipment and documents together

Ask for demonstrations of contracted equipment and retain applicable product information, maintenance guidance, contacts and project documents. Qualified professionals should inspect and explain electrical, plumbing and other safety matters. Do not dismantle equipment or replace professional verification with online tips.

Give follow-up a date and status

Mark items as awaiting confirmation, arranged or complete, with a contact and expected follow-up date. Review corrections together and keep records. Handover should establish what is finished and what remains, giving occupancy and maintenance a clear starting point.

This is general space-planning and renovation information, not an assessment of a particular project. Structural, fire, electrical, water-supply or specific user requirements should be assessed on site by appropriately qualified professionals. Images are conceptual.
